Hello, I'm new here but have been reading the forum for quite sometime. Finally worked up the nerve to register, for, I've been intimidated by the caliber of most of the members here. I'm thinking, man, most of the members here are holders of masters and PhD degrees. I fear not being able to post or ask anything remotely intelligent enough to deserve your time; I'm very shy and timid. Seriously, time and time again I have to dig up the dictionary and look up the meanings of many words members use here.

But I've been having questions about certain schools and programs that I think some members here may have familiarity with. Even if no one has had direct experiences with them, maybe the members, with their vast knowledge of DL and resourcefulness, can point me in the right directions.

    So, here goes:

Has anyone had actual experiences with East Carolina University's MBA program, specifically the online MBA program. I've been looking at NC public school programs because they're not too expensive for NC residents. For the online MBA program, are there exams and how are they adminitered. How difficult is it to get admitted into the program?

Any info and help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm not intimately familiar with ECU's online program, but I can say that they are one of the programs that are fully AACSB accredited, and that alone is sufficient to put them at least in the top half of all U.S. MBA programs.

As for admission rates, I'd assume they'd be high for the online program, most online or DL programs are over 75%, even among ranked schools (Duke, Indiana, Purdue, Emory probably notwithstanding).

No need to put people on this forum up on a high pedestal, I have a "doctorate" (albeit only a juris doctorate), and I'm constantly consulting the dictionary to understand what these people are saying, and truth be told, I'll bet the great majority of them do the same. Of course, that's the way it works and how we become more literate.

Yes, ECU is a very nice deal (I think it may be $130 with all fees per credit) at the MBA level. It is AACSB, online, and has good name weight to it.

It has a lot of prereqs though and you can't do the online coursework behind a firewall (I believe this to be correct), so thats why I may not do it.

You may want to look at UNC Pembroke, I believe they may be rolling out an online MBA in the near future. They just started an online MPA degree for dirt cheap and a branch campus MBA program at my local Community College in night class format. Its around $80 (not counting extra fees) per credit for MBA or MPA which is insanely low. The only catch is you gotta have calculus as a prereq .

Good to see another poster from NC on the board. In this state there are many great deals online for people who want a good higher education without going broke.

I'm about to dawn the St. Andrew's (Laurinburg, NC) royal blue graduation gown this may and receive my BA officially (I finished classes last year) and then its time to decide where I'm going next.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply, Splas. You're right, there still seems to some reasonable educational deals here in NC, at least for us residents anyway. Likewise, good to know there are posters here from NC. Oh yeah, I totally overlooked UNC Pembroke. Do you know if their future online MBA will be AACSB?
