The plug is always appreciated, even if it does point out that I've put off the Stats exam WAY too long...

I'll second the thoughts of others with respect to the Standard Deviants videos. I've found them useful to clarify some points, although I've yet to properly memorize the binomial theorem

(also,"Ralph Malph" from Happy Days is the special guest for these videos - this may influence you positively or negatively ;) )

Can anyone provide insight into the formulas you are expected to memorize (or have on your calculator)? Are any provided to you?

    Cheers,
    Mark

I can relate to that remark :)

    Hey Mark,
I procrastinated on my statistics exam too. I put it off for almost a year. It was easier then I expected, unlike Dantes business finance which was harder than expected.

My Dantes exam didn't have too many formulas, you should expect to know the basic formulas: stand deviation, mean median, Z scores, Empirical rule, etc. You'll be fine by learning these. The cliff notes book covers all the basic concepts, combined with Deviants videos, you should do fine. Good luck, and thanks again for creating your awesome site!!!

    DSST statistics

    Hey Ultimale,

I am reading my Cliff Notes book today looking up Null hypothesis and t-test and I am completely lost about this. It just seems like in the Cliff notes book they get very complicated. Wonder if we really have to go "that deep" or is just enough to know what the definitions of these things are along with the "basic" formula?

sigh, this is really stressing me out. At this rate, I'll never be ready by next month.

    Thanks,
    Kim

Another great study resource, if it hasn't been mentioned already:

    http://www.quickmba.com

Good for accounting, statistics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Strategy, Business Law, Economics, and more.

    Hi Kim,

I just took this test today so it's fresh in my mind. You will definitely need to know the Null hypothesis as there are at least a half-dozen questions related to it Ho vs. Ha. There are a couple of t-test questions and x2 questions (but you could pass on these if you know the rest).

I highly recommend getting your hands on the Standard Deviants tape series - Tape 1 covers the basics up to Standard Deviation, Tape 2 covers Probability and Tape 3 covers Hypothesis Testing - and they are all well explained.

I also used Instantcert but found it nearly useless (well, the practice problems were somewhat useful but not to learn the concepts). This is typically the case for non-memorization types of tests where you need to work through solutions.

If you're quick I see Item # 6300947110 currently listing on eBay selling for $25 for all 3 in new condition. Grab it quick!

    Cheers,
    Mark

    Thanks to everyone

I just got word back from Dantes and I passed! I got a 67, on the exam, so I am officially done with my BSBA from Thomas Edison. Thanks so much to everyone for your advice. Your suggestions, tips and strategies were extremely helpful. This is a great site, with lots of great people. Thanks to you all!

Congratulations! Reading about people finishing their degrees is my favorite part of participating in this discussion board - it just makes me more determined to write my own success story!

Good luck in your post-undergrad plans!
