Hi. I was eagerly looking forward to my DSST exam today- and then I was extremely disappointed to find out that I had to pay via credit card. Is this legal? Can I use a prepaid credit card to pay for future exams?

Yes, it's legal. Nothing forces a company to take cash as payment, they could put out a sign saying "We only accept gold dust" if they wanted to. I think that Prometric's policy is probably because the sites that administer the test are not controlled by Prometric and they don't want to find themselves in a "he said, she said" situation if some cash were to disappear.

As to whether or not you can use a prepaid credit card, I would imagine you can. I know I paid for my DSST with a debit card way back when.

    Good luck!
