"Dr." David Reardon

Tonight NOW (a PBS program) featured a program on abortion. One of the anti-abortionists discussed was David Reardon, and it was noted twice that is Ph.D. is from an unaccredited university. A little research showed that his degree is from Pacific Western University (http://nerofiddled.blogspot.com/2005_07_19_archive.html)
I'm pleased to see journalists are starting to check educational credentials.

 

Reardon may have a degree from the PWU Hawaii branch which was closed down permanently by the department of consumer affairs in Hawaii for violating the weak Hawaii laws against diploma mills. However, we will apparently have to take his word for it since the new ownership of PWU seems to be threatening lawsuits against anyone saying that PWU California was ever associated with PWU Hawaii. Which means to me that the current PWU probably won't validate the bogus degrees that PWU Hawaii handed out. Were I to meet Dr Reardon, I would likely feel compelled to call him an academic fraud.
