Colorado Community Colleges Online offers both a 2 sem General Biology and General Chemistry sequences with Lab. http://www.ccconline.org
Mountain State has chemistry, physics, biology, and other science courses through independent study. These are self paced with up to 4 months to complete them. I am taking General Chemistry this semester and I like it so far.
Plcscott, Does your course include a lab component? I have seen a few offering from CCs in my state (CA), but they usually only have the lecture and not the lab.
Greetings. 1) Previously. there have been threads in which distance science courses with lab have been discussed. Here's a link to one; you might find others using this forum's "search" feature. (I found this one by searching using the keyword "lab" and the user name "RKanarek".) http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11540&highlight=lab 2) As I recall, Oklahoma University has a two 5 SH chemistry classes w/lab. They are available in a number of formats, too (e.g., online, correspondence). See: http://isd.ou.edu/ulist.asp Cordially, Richard Kanarek
Yes. The chemistry lab is CD ROM format. If you do the chemistry let me know and I will sell you my CD's. The 1 semester hour lab has 13 individual labs where you submit labs, quiz, and problems into a packaged lab report for each lab. There are also 4 exams for the lab course. The 3 semester hour course has 5 exams.
Check out Coastline CC. They have DL lab courses (you can buy kits thru their bookstore as I recall). http://coastline.cccd.edu/page.asp?LinkID=276
I just found out that my school, Capella University, is the first institution to pull off creating a true Chemistry course for online. The guy who helped to pull it off was a professor who taught a Nobel Chemistry Prize winner. The course is being offered under the General Education dept. Since it is a new course, you will have to pursue a little harder than usual about the matter and it may not be listed officially on the web site. Call Capella at 1-888-capella or go to www.capella.edu and check with them.
