Hi guys, I am desperately seeking a copy of the following text: The Guide to Background Investigations, 9th Edition 2057 pages Publisher: T I S I, 9th edition (September 1, 2000) ISBN: 0964238845 My university has done extensive searches overseas, but none are willing or able to send it over. Amazon have it listed at http://tinyurl.com/64grv but it has been out of print for ages. Any ideas, suggestions, copies greatly appreciated! Cheers, George
...and two copies, about $160 each, at Amazon used books: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/offer-listing/0964238829/ref=lp_g_1//002-4313374-4811264?condition=all If they don't ship to the nether regions, George, let me know and I'll get it and float it over. --John Bear, remembering for once that if you type an ISBN number into the Google search space, it provides much information about the book. How can it know that 0964238845 is an ISBN and not a car registration in Bolivia or a phone number in Niue? Or is that like asking how a thermos bottle knows whether to keep something hot or cold?
Thanks to all for you help. At the price quoted, even second hand, I cannot justify the cost. Has anyone actually seen and read it? Just wondering if it is worth purchasing - if so, I will get the uni to get a copy. Cheers, George
Well, Jack, I just wanted to borrow the book for my research. I have no need to buy a copy - it is filled with American references that would serve no purpose for me in the future. The background theory was what interested me. Cheers, George
Hmmm... The National Guide to College and University Student Records might interest some of the resident sleuths. $19.95
And floating may be the way to go. At 2057 pages, it would cost an arm, a leg, and another arm again to mail it. Rather makes those *little* books by J.K. Rowling seem rather tiny. Tom Nixon
Thanks to all for your help. Adelaide Library has got back to me and said they can get me an older version, which should be fine. Cheers and thanks George
I have it. According to Worldcat there are 16 libraries in the world that own it. I am a librarian at one of them. If you contact me offline I will advise you how to borrow it through interlibrary loan.
You beauty! Thanks so much mdoneil - I have PM'd you. As usual, Degreeinfo is a stunning resource - thanks to all. Cheers, George
