A Trump supporter asked Trump how he was going to lower rent prices because his kids are struggling. Trump responded with, "Drill, baby, drill." Gas was temporarily cheap under his administration when people were locked inside of their homes and had nowhere to go. Unless Trump is taking credit for creating a new, deadly virus, then I don't think he wants to take credit for low oil demand because of lockdowns. More oil is being produced under the Biden administration than the Trump administration, so I don't know why Trump thinks that's what's causing inflation. Biden and Obama also deported more undocumented immigrants, but that's a different topic. Out of all that senile rambling, Trump didn't say what he was going to do about the housing shortage, which is what's causing the high prices. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-Y6FWWNxCg/
We did have times under Trump we paid $1.87 for gas and some weeks lower. It's in the records. Biden raised oil prices by canceling drilling, stopping the plan for a pipeline, canceling oil leases and personally insulting Saudi Arabia, who then would not cooperate with us on oil production.
During the lockdown. Low demand = low prices. The streets were empty. I can't even remember how low the prices got in my area because I was going months without filling up. The record also shows that, under the Biden administration, the record for oil production was broken. The entire world is dealing with post-COVID inflation, and the U.S. actually bounced back better than most nations.
Yes, a record on production was broken. We needed far more than that. Plans were in place to get us the more needed here in the US. Biden stopped the plans and gas prices rose and we are still far behind where we would have been. Need rose faster than new production. You can put whatever phony spin you want on this, but the pump tells no lies.
How come less oil was produced under Trump, even when we weren't locked down? You're the one who is spinning. Less oil was produced under Trump. Gas temporarily got cheap during the lockdowns, not because of anything Trump did. More oil was produced under Biden. It doesn't matter what Biden canceled. He still beat every year of Trump's administration.
Also, Trump lied about gas being $5.00 per gallon now. The average price is $3.60. Gas might be $5.00 in California, but they're always more expensive than the rest of the country.
Yes gas is more expensive in California, especially during the summer. Summer is the worst pollution months. So, there's a California law that during the summer months they have to sell gas that is less polluting. This kind of gas is more expensive to produce. I paid $4.25 per gallon yesterday.
Gasoline was like $5 in Hawai'i when I was there a few weeks ago, which is just about the most expensive place in the US, but even so I found it for $4.50/gallon by looking around.
