Hello: I have been searching for an accredited school that has been recognized by the Department of Ed for distance education that have this degree and I am having no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find this information? Thank you.
I am assuming an undergraduate degree?? If so there are plenty and I will just mention the Big 3: Excelsior College: http://www.excelsior.edu Thomas Edison State College: http://www.tesc.edu Charter Oak State College: http://www.cosc.edu John
Thank you so much! Yes, I meant undergraduate. I am a little wary and very confused about the accreditation process. There seem to be some schools out there that are not recognized by the department of ed. but offer good programs and I've been warned I should just forget about those schools. Sometimes, I just don't know what to do? Have you or anyone reading my post come across the problem? I really would like some advice.
I would suggest you buy or borrow a copy of Bear's Guide to Distance Learning, 15th Edition, and read the introductory chapters before you leap into a program. The chapter on accreditation is one of the best explanations of this complicated system, and the rest of the book is a wealth of information on almost every area of distance learning. Many a student has embarked on an expensive and time consuming program, only to find that the degree they earned is worthless for their purposes. Although some members of this forum would disagree, I feel that regional accreditation is the most important factor in choosing a school. There is a list of regional accreditors on this website.
Thank you very much. I shall review it and you're right about buying the book. I shall purchase it at my earliest opportunity. Thank you again.
This may be an expensive option since it is out of state for you, but I tend to like schools that also have a brick and mortar dimension to them. University of Houston BA in History
Thank you. I'm navigating the website right now. I'm having trouble finding out exactly was the tuition is but it does have what I want. I shall let you know how it works out.
