I will be taking this exam soon and would like to know from those who have taken it whether or not one is allowed to use a calculator during the exam.

Thanks for your help guys! It's good to know that I can use a calculator. I'll have to purchase one though since they require it be a "non-programmable hand-held calculator" and mine is programmable.

By the way, can the non-programmable calculator be a scientific calculator?

Just some advice for the stats exam... It is a timed test and you will not be able to afford to spend time learning how to use a new calculator. You need to be able to be comfortable with the calculator you use so you don't waste time acessing functions you may not be familiar with.

Best wishes for success on the exam.

The Dantes Statistics exam is timed??? Are you sure Dick? None of the Dantes exams I have taken thus far have been timed. How much time do I have?

  8. Maybe times have changed... Many years ago when I went to Ed Services office on my base in the Navy, there was a 3 hour time limit on the ones I took. That may have been a local thing in the office... I don't know now.

If the ones you took were not timed, then it must no longer be a requirement.

The DANTES exams I took in the past (August and September 2002) were not timed; there was no time limit.
