GIWILSF Syndrome is a lifelong yearning, with occasional flare ups, and based apparently on nothing, to move to or live in San Francisco. It is a subset of GIWILBA Syndrome. The most effective treatment seems to be to cause the patient to live on his own in the City for a calander year. The Syndrome will then usually abate for an extended period of time, possibly for life, allowing the patient to establish a decent home somewhere that he can actually afford to live. In a few cases, however, the patient will remain in the City and sharing half a sublet room, being incapable of self-rescue.

Did I have GIWILBA? I mean I perhaps got it after going to school in Berkeley. I didn't have it prior to that. When I took the job in San Diego my plan was to eventually move back to the Bay Area. That plan never happened though. After a few years I decided that I liked San Diego better.

Sure! Better weather and slightly less horrendous cost of living!

I suffer from chronic GIWILSF syndrome myself. I've been looking for a support group.

    Sobriety helps.

Going into any news aggregator app and searching "San Francisco" is a well-attested cure.

Checking it out on Zillow or Redfin is also effective.

Ain't THAT the truth! I could do it, though, if I were willing to work. Which I'm not.

ICYMI, not everyone is in California... Hmm, depending on the state, there are a few areas I really would like to retire in the US, the majority of the smaller cities or islands would make a good place to retire in.

    MW: Exactly.

I really should establish a non-profit 501c3 Foundation, headquartered in SF. It could employ me!

I should get to work on outreach materials...

The traffic in San Diego is also less horrendous. Although BART is most wonderful.

I'm not sure that sobriety is worth it though? GIWILSF isn't that bad.
