Hello, I was a student at Excelsior for about 5 years ago and have now decided to return to them. I was a BS.CIS student before and had about 30 credits to complete. As many of you know, BS.CIS at Excelsior is discountinued. The techteam@excelsior advices me to do the BS.IT instead. I have earned around 25 credits from graduate courses and 10 credits from undergraduate courses that I have taken locally here. After my evaluation, I will be needing: Calculus I 3-credits Written English Requirement 3-credits Information Literacy Requirement 1-credits Discrete Math 3-credits Ethics 3-credits Operating Systems 3-credits Integrated Technology Assessment 3-credits To complete the BS.IT @ Excelsior Here is the question; Instead of completing BS.IT , is it possible to transfer those credits to their Bachelor's Degrees in Liberal Arts?? What im wondering is if they would accept computer science & IT courses to meet their sciences requirement. In my situation, wouldnt I just also need to complete Information Literacy Requirement, WER, College-math to fulfill the degree requirement for BS.LS?? WER : http://www.uiweb.uidaho.edu/isi/courses/engl101.htm ILR: http://www.excelsior.edu MATH: CLEP ??? Hope for some clarifications & directions. alx
Hiya! Congrats on taking the first steps to finish what you started - good on you! I would suggest that you go straight to the horse's mouth - call Excelsior and speak to them - they are in the best position to answer your questions with certainty... Also, you can CLEP out of English, Math, and others ( http://tinyurl.com/ecclep ) to expedite the process.
You should be able to use the CS courses as Applied Professional credits and towards the CIS concentration of the BS LS.
The only science credits are those for Social Sciences or Math and Science. I doubt CS would apply towards these areas at all it would most likely only apply towards professional credits. Only Excelsior can say for sure though.
