They always want experienced people. However, when they have tons of people applying, they may add IT certifications requirement to the experience requirement as a way to thin out the pile of resumes.
Certs and degrees will get you an interview..you have to do the rest... Now you got skills, and no qualifications, you may be sunk. HR typically sorts resumes by the "has_____ Cert" and "Degree/no Degree" . Once over that hurtle, then is your chance to shine in the interview. Cert wont get you a job, but I know for a fact it will get you interviewed and noticed. When i got the CCNA it was a huge upturn in traffic for an entry cert....
Cets its something one has to maintain. What is the value of MCSE on Win NT 3.5? I think a person with current and updated Certs hasa better chance at the job.
Certs are okay for getting a break. However when you want to get the next promotion, then degrees are considered. Without an Masters you might not get that corner office spot. Just my thought.
Correct. Unless you are willing to do consulting with all its risks and benefits, then you need a Master of some sort to stand out.
