I have noticed that some community colleges in Texas pay their full-time instructors and professors with doctorates anywhere between $60k and $80k to start. This is for a 9-month contract. It's possible to make more if you teach summer classes. In comparison, 4-year universities in Texas appear to be paying their new assistant professors between $50k and $70k in most fields. Of course, you can make a lot more if you're a business or law professor or computer science or engineering professor, to a lesser extent.
