    I agree that it is not appropriate for one state to become the de facto evaluator for all unaccredited U.S. schools. As more states pass Oregon-like laws (which we expect in 2005) our evaluations will look less like a gold standard - we will be one evaluator among several.

    However, note that we only evaluate the ones that come to us, formally ask for an evaluation and pay a fee. We are then required by law to conduct the evaluation and the result is a public record.

    The issue is whether people outside Oregon consider our evaluation to be useful for other purposes. It is pretty silly to have scores of different evaluators all using different standards, but there is a simple remedy for schools that want to be free of all this:

    Get accredited.

    CCWU's PhD in International Business Law actually looked kind of interesting to me. I hope that they pursue ODA approval and eventual accreditation.

    It did seem to me that their law faculty is a little thin for a school granting dissertation doctorates in law, but I didn't make a careful study and my impression could be wrong. I counted only two JD holders. Also, I suppose that PhD holders don't necessarily list their JD degrees as well.
