Cleveland Institute of Electronics

Has anyone gone to Cleveland Institute of Electronics, or any other school that offers an associates, and/or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology? The only two online schools I have found that look decent for the electronics field are CIE, and Grantham. I also saw Penn Foster has an AS degree, but they do not offer a BS degree, and transferring credits would be difficult.

I like the fact that CIE makes you buy an Oscilloscope so you can do the labs at home, and a lot of their testing is online. The negative side of this school and Grantham is that they are not regionally accredited, only DETC accredited, this will make transferring credits in the future very difficult. I know about the University of North Dakota, but I won't be able to travel over there to do their labs.

If any of you have suggestions for other online colleges in the electronics field, or have opinions about the ones listed I would love to hear about it.

 

Look into the following:

Excelsior College - B.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology
Thomas Edison State College - B.S.A.S.T. in Electronics Engineering Technology
Thomas Edison State College - A.S.A.S.T. Electronics Engineering Technology

If you are planning on pursuing a masters [or higher] degree someday, then go with an RA school. Also, if you can find a way to swing the labs, then by all means go for an ABET accredited engineering degree.

 

I have already looked into Thomas Edison, the problem with that college is that most of the credits required for the degree are not offered. Excelsior College looks good so far, I will look further into it. Thanks for the suggestions.

 

I wish I had more suggestions to offer to you but engineering technology is not a field that I have ever personally looked into.

I have researched this subject for 6 years and made a website for people like you. You won't find many online electrical/electronic degrees at the Bachelors level because their is political opposition to them in the USA.
