What about Heriot Watt's DBA http://www.ebsglobal.net/? I thought that was under 14k.

Is UNISA a good school? I saw their doctorate in Business Leadership and was impressed with it.

How does the program work? I saw the previous poster mention that it was difficult to contact people there?

I seriously considered both Argosy and Capella, but both were beyond my financial reach.

UNISA has a fairly decent reputation in South Africa and internationally. Some students have said that it is quite bureaucratic with a lot of rigid rules. I suppose if one is a new applicant, the process could be quite daunting. I don't know a lot about the DBL programme. There are several people on this board who are or have studied at the doctoral level at UNISA. Perhaps they can share their experiences. UNISA has a licensee in Canada to answer questions and help prospective students:

    Re: SAQA

What school are you working in?
SAQA is South Africa Qualification Authority, isn't it? If yes, first of all, you need to finish your SAQA because your degree will be determined as a South Africa equivalence.
Since you get the SAQA, finish all of the procedures, there is no response from your professors, you can claim to the management of UNISA. And evenif UNISA no reply, you can claim with SAQA about your case.
    Not be frustrated.

Aspen University has one of the most affordable Doctorate of Education programs around, but the concentration is in Leadership and Learning. If you pay for the first four courses up front, you can get a substantial discount. They are nationally accredited through the DETC, which is recognized by the US Dept. of Ed. and CHEA. Check them out. www.aspen.edu

Yea, go NCU! Higher education by the lowest bidder!

Seriously though, it's great. My only complaint after only two classes (so I may not have the whole picture) is slow replies to questions and slow turnaround time grading papers. That doesn't really bother me. The program and curriculum is really good. My program is really a lot of work. I recommend NCU.

What is the DETC Ed.D. for? What is it's purpose? Curious.

It shouldn't be the only factor, but far too many people end up shredding their futures because they don't take the cost of university tuition into account.

    louisnguyen27,
what they mean by "■A minimum period of registration (residency) of two years" is that you have be enrolled in the program for a minimum of two years. dont have to be in South Africa.
