wow, thanks for all the feedback. I'm checking out all of the links that you folks have posted. I'm sure I'm going to have a lot more questions.

I did check out the apus.edu link and it looks like they charge a lot more for the undergrad program than CCU (250 vs 125 per credit hour). It's a bit over my budget.

Does anyone know of another Business Admin undergraduate program that's in the 125-175 per credit hour range?

Dave Wagner, why do you keep calling her a shill?

The DETC issue is about the scope of utility -- or lack thereof. Stick to the facts. Ad hominism is childs play.

I think what Kozen was saying (in the portion that you quoted) was that CCU will take CCU grads into its Masters program, not that CUNY would take CCU grads into its Masters program.

People, people - settle down! I -for one - am getting tired of the NCU bashing and the DETC bashing. Give opinions, but stop attacking other posters! This is directed at both Me Again and Davewagner but may also apply to others who are quick to attack.

    CUNY is cheap

This whole thread doesn't make much sense - CUNY has one of the most cheap online degrees out there if we are only considering B&M school with a good tradition and reputation.

The price (for in and out of state students) is around $2.300 per term and you can take 15 credits per term.

    That's around 153.3 per credit.

    A really good deal.

It is a good deal. And if they won't transfer CCU credits I'm considering going in that direction. The only reason I'm looking at CCU at all is because of (1) and (2) of my criteria above - they're cheap (125 per credit hour) and they're accelerated. If CUNY won't accept CCU credits then I'm seriously considering just going to CUNY only. I'm just looking to save some $$$ and some time.

Well, the website doesn't say whether they only accept regionally-accredited credits, so you'll probably have to probe deeper into that massive website or call an academic advisor:

    http://online.sps.cuny.edu/admissions/transferring_credits.aspx

Because of the potential for lower division prerequisites to your upper division classes at CUNY, you may be better off spending the nominal additional tuition and do all your work at CUNY.

Anyone know how many units one can transfer in to NSULA English MA? I've spent a good 90 minutes trying to get the info from the web site and I just can't find it. I would assume...6? I also need to know how old transfer units can be.

Guess I'll just have to call them...unless anyone happens to know?

    Did you search their catalog?

To answer the question on whether DETC CCU credits will be accepted at RA Northwestern State University (NSU) of Louisiana, their website has the following:

    • "Hours earned at an institution accredited by a regional committee on colleges, or the equivalent, will be accepted at NSU" (p30).
If you read further down, it also addresses:
    - credit by exam
    - ACT
    - CLEP
    - challenging exams
    - credit for military education
    - etc.

Yes, I see that, but I still was hoping to know how many units from an RA would transfer into an NSULA Master's in English, and whether or not the age of the units might disqualify them.

It is interesting to me that only a few graduate school web sites put the essential info so many people want to know out front and center. How many units can be transferred? How old can they be? How many units does the
program require for a degree? And so on. Mercy College is the only one I recall that just cut to the chase.

It frustrates me that I have to wade through pages and pages of silly "mission
statement" sort of PR nonsense to find the most basic info. Ah, well. Such is life in the academy...or anywhere else.

Most graduate programs (at the Masters level) will only allow in about 6 graduate-level credits from other graduate programs, although I've seen up to 9 credits.

If you're wanting something that's self paced, have you considered Independent Study classes? BYU is a reasonably priced RA school. You can't complete a degree through their independent study program but it is a good way to pick up a few classes. Both my sons and I have taken classes through BYU and have been very pleased with the quaility of the school.
