Haven't posted in a few days. Spent the last two days in the hospital.

Went in because I was suffering with excruciating chest pains. Passed stress test (treadmill) and all tests show heart is strong, no damage, no heart complications or problems at all.

Have no idea what's going on. Cardiologists seems to think it's esophagitis caused by acid reflux.

Anyway, California College for Health Sciences has a new web site and I like it much better than the old one.

    To Jimmy Clifton,

Greetings, I'm glad to hear your doing OK, I know the feeling of having chest pains, then having to go to the doctors and have the stress test (treadmill) it can be a bit nerve racking, to say the least.

Keep the faith brother, the good Lord will see you through!

Thanks to all who posted. I still have the pains but they are not so severe.

The human body always amazes me.

    Jimmy,

Glad you are doing well. I notice that the tuition for CCHS has skyrocket.

Thanks and yes, the tuition is simply awful now. When I enrolled it was $133 pch. So, my M.S. cost about $4000.

Today, it would cost anywhere from $6750 to $13,500 as the catalog says graduate tuition ranges between $225-$450 per semester credit hour.

I think some residential programs are cheaper.

  9. Stay away from CCHS

I feel that CCHS cheated me out of thousands of dollars. They are NOT RA, so I cannot understand why anyone now would pay that kind of tuition.

Thanks, Tony. I think College America owns CCHS now as well as Stevens-Henager.

You've made these types of statements in the past. You really should take legal action if you feel this way.

The state of California frowns on institutions of higher learning that cheat its students.

If I were you I'd contact the authorities as well as DETC and all the other organizations that have an affiliation with CCHS, such as NAEYC, NHSA, NAFCC, NAECTE, NACCRRA, CDA, and PACE.

I am sure with determination and persistence on your part, you will acheive a satisfactory resolution.

  12. I'm taking them to Small Claims Court

CCHS did not post my last payment and have been hounding me about $112. Even though I sent them copies of cancelled checks, they cannot take care of their accounting errors. Some guy named Adam has been leaving threatening messages on my answering machine, so it's now a police matter. Somehow when they moved to Utah the books went elsewhere. Now that I have Adam on tape, I feel that I have some solid evidence and am pressing charges. Adam had the audacity to actually leave a message stating, "You will be really sorry if you don't pay up." Sounds like an extortion attempt. I now make a copy of everything and turn the originals over to the police. Since CCHS is now in another state, I wonder if the FBI or Attorney General could get involved.

Why is the CALIFORNIA College for Health Sciences now located in Utah?

  15. Why is CCHS located in Utah?

Good question. I have been checking with California State licensing boards for private schools and the CSRC to find out if CCHS has either had license revoked or if they are on probation. Due to budget crisis in California, it takes a very long time to update their website.

    Jimmy,
Passing the stress test is great! That's good news!!!
A friend of mine who was 41 lasted exactly 21 seconds on it before they yanked him off!
I've never had one but from my understanding if you pass that beast a person is just about ready for a bicycle ride up Pikes peak with a 60 lb. field pack!
    Best wishes,
    Gavin

I don't think they had licensing problems in California. I am pretty sure they moved to Utah after being acquired by Carl Barney. See this link: http://www.whitestonecommunications.com/transactions/carlbarney_CCHS.html

    Re: Stay away from CCHS

I can't either, and I doubt many people will. At $133 per credit hour, they used to be a bargain. They even had some of those inexpensive courses ACE reviewed.

Now, the tuition is $450 per graduate credit hour and none of the courses are ACE approved. Carl Barney must be delusional. Why pay $450 for a CCHS credential when you could pay much less at other DETC and RA schools?

If CCHS submitted their courses to ACE, then maybe they could justify the tuition. Unfortunately, greedy for-profit school administrations don't care enough about their students to do so.

Re: Re: Stay away from CCHS

Not all graduate courses are $450 pch. The range is between $225-450. It appears the M.P.H. and M.B.A. courses cost the most while the M.S. in Community Health and the M.S. in Wellness Promotion cost the least.

All in all, I am disappointed in the tuition hikes. I notice you mentioned Carl Barney. He signed my degree with huge, ostentatious letters. What does this tell us?

I am still very please with my CCHS education. The only thing I would have done differently is that had I known CCU would one day be accredited by DETC, I would have enrolled there in the graduate psych program instead.

However, most of my CCHS courses were in mental health/addictions so that's not too bad.

Do you know if the CCU graduate psych programs qualify graduates for any type of licensure?
