Questions about Capella have been recently asked on the alt.education.distance news group, and I prefer to respond here. Capella, formerly the Graduate School of America, achieved its accreditation from the North Central Association in near-record time a few years ago. It is a proprietary (privately-owned) school, offering degrees in a model typically requiring short residency in Minnesota plus guided independent study. I had the privilege of being a keynote speaker at one of their residential sessions last summer, and I was awfully impressed with the quality (and quantity) of work being done, and the dedication of faculty, staff, and students.
