An opportunity awaits anyone who is qualified and interested.... The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) is issuing a call for academics, graduate students, and homeland security, intelligence, and other relevant practitioners to participate with START as adjunct faculty (in-person and online) on an as needed basis. START is attempting to build a roster of qualified adjunct faculty members with expertise related to the center's mission of studying the human causes and consequences of terrorism. START is recruiting individuals interested in teaching specific courses, described below, as well as additional courses which may be proposed in the application. START is currently recruiting individuals able to teach the following courses: - Terrorist Motivations and Behaviors (UG; in-person only) - Responses to Terrorism (UG; in-person only) - Federal Homeland Security Policy (UG; in-person only) - Psychology of Terrorism (UG/G; in-person only) - Quantitative Analysis for Intelligence Analysts (UG/G; in-person OR online) - Motivations and Intents of Terrorists and Terrorist Groups (G; in-person OR online) - Tools and Practices of Terrorism Analysis (G; in-person OR online) - Homeland Security Policy (G; in-person OR online) - Trends in Terrorism and Counterterrorism (G; in-person OR online) Please note: While a Ph.D. will be an asset to most applications, significant professional experience in a field related to these courses may offset an applicant's educational experience. Similarly, teaching experience is desirable but may be offset by an applicant's professional experience. Payment will be commensurate with experience. For undergraduate courses, payment will range between $2,500 and $5,000. For graduate courses, payment will range between $4,000 and $7,500. For more information and to access the application form, please review: http://WWW.START.UMD.EDU/EDUCATION/CALL_FOR_ADJUNCT_FACULTY.ASP. Questions can be directed to [email protected]. No phone calls, please. Accepted instructors will be notified as appropriate teaching opportunities become available. Before accepted instructors are allowed to teach a course, they will be required to participate in an online orientation for new adjunct faculty members.
