Well, after a couple of months I finally made it. I was contacted by Florida Institute of Technology today and placed on their list of available adjuncts. I'm slated to teach a correctional systems course in the fall. A contract will be drawn up for me. The class was originally supposed to offered in the early summer but was closed due to low enrollment. The program coordinator stated that most of the students lacked the necessary pre-reqs for the course. Any experienced adjuncts care to share with me their wisdom and knowldge?
Yes, set the rules and expectations early. Get everyone comfortable. Ask them questions about themselves and try to relate the information to their personal experiences.
