Sorry, didn't mean to offend that much, you seemed a little more liberal than THAT! All I can respond is "And also unto you".

    Gus:

As usual you are looking for confrontation, and I think everyone knows it. So, you do what ever you want to do.

Talk about somone looking for attention.

Do your Bill Clinton Lawyer lawyer speak, you are so good at it. ;) Are you wondering if that was a complement? :D :D

    Your Bunkie,

    Warning: May Contain Offensive Language

I manage to avoid reading 90% of the threads on this forum. Nothing personal, kiddies, but . . . been there, done that, and have several t-shirts, thank you. Occasionally, however, a subject line like "Be Nice to Newbies," and my curiosity gets the better of me.

    Anyway, I think I can summarize this in a few observations . . .

When it comes persons who have graduated from degree mills and then find out that their degrees are worthless (or at least unacceptable in a regionally accredited context, such as admission to an RA grad school), there are two types: the first is the person who says, "Ooooooops, fucked up." That person will then do his or her best to gain a credible degree. (For the vets around here, Barry Foster comes to mind - he earned more than one degree mill credential, realized that he blew it, went back and earned RA degrees, and now holds a doctorate from Fielding.)

The second type is the one who says, "Yeah, I fucked up, but . . ." plcscott is clearly the second type. "Yeah, K-W won't get me into an RA grad school, but I still think I had a credible education."

    Yeah, right.

(Of course, there is a hybird of these two types . . . The one who says, for example, "Yeah, I fucked up by enrolling in MIGS, shilling for them, and hyping them to the high heavens, but . . ." Said type may actually go on an earn a legit Ph.D. from, say, Union, but never actually repented, for lack of a better term, or his prior sins by admitting, "I fucked up, period." Not that I refer to anyone specific, of course.)

Campers, it all boils down to d-e-n-i-a-l. People, as a general rule, have a big problem admitting that they fucked up, period. Now, I have no problem with that intrinsically, except that it often comes across as an endorsement for degree mills. And that's when the rest of us - those who, like Gus, are 90% right (or even someone like me, who is 99-44/100% right), have to step in.

Now, in light of the last statement, there is one final issue: some things are funny, period. And as Joseph Bologna observed in My Favorite Year, you don't mess with funny.

And while I'm delighted to be mentioned in this thread, I should note that Gus (with whom I agree fully) is not my alter ego. When I created Gus, I intentionally made him different from me. Seriously, Gus is probably one of the best "research assistants" on degreeinfo.com (yes, there is a reason I used that particular term, and the insiders will know what it is), and his research and opinions are right on. Naturally, some wazoos (those who graduated from K-W, for example) will take offense to him, just as they take offense to me. That's not our intrinsic objective, but it's no big whoop.

Well Steve, like Gus you assume a lot don't you. Actually, I am in the process of getting things together to start taking Dantes, Clep, and possibly other testing to probably get a testing degree from one of the big three. Maybe even do some portfolio assessment.

So, while I am not going to use your terminology I guess you can say I am heading in a different direction now.

I am glad you two are so happy together. You can laugh at each other, and tell each other how great I art and agree.

Humor is a very subjective thing, and it seems that Gus likes a laugh much more when it is at someone else’s expense. As far as your funnies are concerned I kind of like some of them. An occasional swipe at Rich may be funny, but they do get old after they are mentioned on every little post. Like Gus, I am sure that they are not meant to provoke or antagonize, right?

    Regards,

    Scott

No, it's more like I'm wondering: A complement to what? :D

I agree with Unk. While there are I'm sure many reasons why people post here, a lot are just curious or trying to find out what's going on. When I came here it was by accident because I was looking on a place where I could get a degree, and what schools I should look for. I learned here about the whole unaccredited thing and that my previous three years bricks and mortar were a wash as far as accadamia. Rather than try to make excuses I asked questions so I could learn and understand the situation. As far as just using the search engine here, that wasn't even something I considered being it was a chat board. I figured I could simply ask my question and get an answer. Most search engines out there on the net can be very elusive as many are loathe to use them.

My point is that there are a lot of honest folk who are just looking for information and answers to their questions reguarding DL. If I'd been made to feel like a schmuck I would've just left this site like a bad habit. However, you all were very helpful and informative. I have seen a time or two since comming here where one (noone in particular) could come across as a bit heavy handed, and it probably was unintentional, but Unks advice is sound. We don't want to scare away some who may one day be able to contribute a lot to this site as many of you have. As we grow there is a greater database of knowledge and experiences. Not to mention it's nice to know you can help someone get things straight and make something of themselves.

    Have a nice day ! :)
