A global currency to replace sovereign currencies?

    Replace the dollar?

I think he was just being polite to China since we rely on them not to sell off our debt. He said (and Obama later) no to a new currency (and so did Europe).

Opec already started using a basket of currencies including dollar, pound, and euro to price oil (before the dollar strengthed).

IMHO it is important to get our trade balance even. Heck the USA used to export more agricultural products than we imported - now it's the other way around.

I predict a very long, very contentious, very expensive campaign in 2010. How that turns out is anyone's guess, but most likely that election cycle will be a watershed for those of us thinking seriously about Galt's Gulch, going on strike, and simply 'disappearing' until responsible adults regain DC ;-)
