Bad day for pessimists!

    Another big "Oops" for the Bush Admin. The Iraqi election is strangely reminiscent of a little U.S. sponsored election to "promote democracy" way back in 1967. It was a little place called South Viet Nam. Things ultimately didn't go so well there, or at least not the way the U.S. envisioned it.

    Lesson to Bush: gotta live with the results no matter what they are. The natives generally don't like puppets. That's what democracy is all about. And that was his intention all along, wasn't it? Wasn't it? Er, uh, yeah, that's right, promoting freedom and democracy the world over. That's right. That's what we meant.

    Or was it WMD's? No it was democracy. Definitely democracy. :(

    Also I noted recently that several Hamas party candidates were elected in Gaza. The administration said something to the effect that despite their being elected democratically they are still terrorists.
