AWU moves?

Just noticed yesterday that there are new addresses on the website for "American World University."

The home page says:

(note: these are Iowa phone numbers)
This is a slight change -- earlier the address was in Moss Point, MS.

The catalog request page says:

International Educators, Inc.

Iowa City, Iowa 52240 USA
(same phone and fax as above)

The Iowa Secretary of State Corporation Search gives this info for International Educators: filed 1/16/2001 as a domestic nonprofit; Registered Agent or Reserving Party is JAMES L SAYRE, LAKE POINTE OFFICE BLDG STE 101, CLIVE IA 50325
(Sayre appears to be an attorney; Clive is next to Des Moines and thus handy to state offices.)

A reverse yellow pages lookup reveals that 2220 Market St., Pascagoula, Mississippi is the home of the Answer Plus telephone answering service. What a surprise.

Note: As I fade away from this forum and field, more detectives are needed. The best site I've found for finding out what is at a given address (or commercial phone number) in the US is: http://yp9.superpages.com/
and then choose the "Detailed search."

 

AnswerPlus is the same company that also serves Asher in Iowa City.

I find it interesting that Asher has never actually "left" Iowa in any way, shape, or form. It continues to be the base, such as it is, of her AWU operations despite the fact that AWU was asked to leave the State of Iowa as of April. Shouldn't the Iowa Attorney General and the Iowa Department of Education be informed of what's going on?

 

There must be some mistake, John! How could this be the address of a telephone answering service, when a university campus is located at the same address? Something very unorthodox is going on here. A major university would not mislead prospective students concerning its location would it?

Using the Web site that John mentioned, I have found another Hawaii address for American World University. Besides, or in replacement of, their doubtlessly impressive Honolulu address (1142 Auahi Street, Honolulu, HI 96814 Attn: Pat Guerin), AWU has an address at:

56 Waianuenue Avenue, Suite 210
Hilo, HI 96720

Other suites at this address include real estate agents, a bicyle tour company, and something called "Massageworks."

Interestingly, Hilo is also the home of "Eurotechnical Research University." Naturally, that probably doesn't mean anything, and the two "universities" don't share the same Zip code, but still, it's interesting. Someone should start a thread about Eurotechnical. There are lots of Web sites with Eurotechnical given as a credential in various quacky-looking CVs.
