I've got a real newbie question...

Aspen raised their rates 25% in the last 6 months for their MBA program. The curriculum looks the same (books/classes).

Is this normal in DL? (Both Aspen and Ashworth rate hikes got me scratching my head...and looking elsewhere)

    Pugman,

First, you ask if this is normal, unfortunately it is a true reality. We need to always keep in mind that these schools are businesses and in being in business, one seeks to identify the supply and demands of both the market and its competition.

A good example is CCU, of which I enrolled in after they made DETC application for National accreditation. When they became accredited, the increased their program cost by over 40%, and do you blame them. They are still a great value, but are in a different group of ompetition now. Ones like Aspen and CSU to name a couple.

I have visited Aspen U's office as it is down the street from where I work in the Cherry creek area of Denver, CO.

Again, it is sole DL university and as I illustrated, if the market can bear a increase and still keep within the point of price resistence, why not raise the rates a bit on tuition.

    Good question.
