Are there any DL pharmacy programs out there? I know in Canada you can become a licensed pharmacist by completing a BS degree in Pharmacy. I think in US a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy is required? Can one practice as a pharmacist (or obtain License in Canada) by doing a PharmD from a US school? Are there any accredited program in Canada or US ?

Nova Southeastern (www.nova.edu) has a distance program in pharmacy (Pharm D) based on compressed video to a fixed number of sites in (mostly in Florida). You must be a licensed pharmacist (typically with a B. Pharm) to enter the program. I believe that a number of other schools have similar programs.

So, in answer to your question - I don't know of any first degrees available by DL in pharmacy. However, there are 2nd degrees (D. Pharm) that can be done by distance.

    Regards - Andy

The Creighton program that Randell posted is entry level. That is, you don't need to be a pharmacist before starting the program, though you do need to take a bunch of prereqs as with any pharmacy program. It does require attendance on-campus for 1-2 weeks each summer of the 4-year program, so it's not entirely distance. The student also needs to live in an area that can provide suitable clerkships, which must be done at a facililty where Creighton is able to make arrangements. When I researched DL pharmacy programs a couple of years ago this was the only one that I could find.
