I was browsing around the Western International University (which is owned by Apollo Group *University of Phoenix* bunch) when I stumbled upon the following student statement:

"I chose WIU because I liked the fact that they were more individual, with no study groups. I wanted to be evaluated on my own merit, not allow others the chance to affect my grade. Besides, going back to school was going to be hard enough without having to meet a second night each week with a learning team. The pace is better too. Classes meet for nine weeks not five or 16. It gives me enough time to comprehend what I am doing without wasting time. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long to get my degree. I'd probably be earning a lot more now if I would have started sooner."

*... not allow others to affect my grade..... meeting with a learning group... etc* Well, that's PRECISELY how Phoenix's programs work. So, now you may be thinking "big deal". Well, here's the kicker:

    http://www.wiuonline.com/FAQs.asp & http://www.wiuonline.com/programs.asp

Go to the above websites and you'll see how WIU touts the seamless transfer into Phoenix.

So, they use the student's quote to promote themselves and it seems like they turn right around and promote what that student didn't want. True, it's only *one* student, but I can guarantee there are more.

Summary: Why would they do this? Educational corporate propaganda?

    Interesting.

What has happened to APOL stock in the last couple of months? They have tanked! UOPX and APOL used to be great stocks for a quick buck, but not anymore.

Any word on why this has occurred?

One big factor is that it seems almost every other for-profit educational organization is either being investigate by the feds, or has a shareholder lawsuit filed against them...or both.

Well, Apollo had, oh I don't know, oogles of dollars in collateral, with ZERO debt, but due to the hefty fine by the Feds (fine on UoP) followed by the scarred image it comes as no surprise that the stocked has slipped.

Phoenix has plenty of resources to remove the smudge, so I think as soon as they can regain consumer (and investor) trust all will be well at the Apollo Group.

Auburn, Clark Atlanta, Georgia, have had accreditation warnings as well as embarrassing moments, but they came back. Phoenix still has well over 100,000 students so they'll be alright *IMDAO*
