    Current Secretary of State.
"During the Clinton administration, Blinken served in the State Department and in senior positions on the National Security Council from 1994 to 2001. He was a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies from 2001 to 2002. Democratic staff director of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 2002 to 2008. He was a foreign policy advisor for Joe Biden's 2008 presidential campaign, before advising the Obama–Biden presidential transition."

More heavy duty credibility than Harris.
Could probably run circles around Trump.

I am not aware of any controversy. I generally support conservative candidates but I would support him (unless anything comes out about him). That level of qualifications and background is almost a dream at this point.

Tired of mediocre candidates like Biden and Harris (even worse) and Mr. Chaos.

It's not the first time I see random Internet people pushing Blinken. Frankly, I suspect ulterior motives in this pushing. I have no - zero - issues with Anthony Blinken, however - HE IS NOT RUNNING. Gave no indication he even wants the job (and who could blame him?). So, I kind of suspect that his name is pushed by conservative people to have an excuse to bash a democratic candidate, or as part of effort to "earn" "permission" to vote for Trump. "I would have voted for Blinken, but THEY didn't let me, so reluctantly Trump is my guy".

    There's nothing wrong with Kamala.

That was strange speculation on your part and completely wrong if you're trying to assess me. Completely wrong. I do question your insight when you make statements like this that seem more emotional and conspiratorial than anything else.

There is nothing wrong with Kamala for you and I'm glad. I have somewhat higher standards for intellect perhaps. Let me pull a Stanislav here and say there probably is nothing wrong with Kamala for you because she is a Democrat and appears to be the choice of the party at this point. Old Soviet style loyalty to the party apparatus (grin).

Interesting intellect standards from a guy advancing an argument in another thread that no, Trump would not be so bad on foreign policy.

Kamala is OK because, well, she's OK. And yes, unwarranted questioning of a woman's intellect is a common, boring sexist trope. (look at any online discussion when anyone brings up say, Warren or AOC).

I've encountered people suddenly pushing Blinken on obscure anti-Putin Russian-language blogs and comment sections of Ukrainian news sites. I really wonder why that is. One analogy would be commenters on the very same platforms pushing political ambitions of General Valery Zaluzhny; this is a fairly transparent attempt to sow division in patriotic Ukrainian circles (Zaluzhny is a former top Ukrainian commander; he didn't express any interest to run for anything and is in fact Zelenskyy's incoming Ambassador to UK). It is not a stretch to infer that, in a very similar way, Blinken is brought up to keep independent Nevertrumper folk away from a Biden/Harris or Harris/Harris' VP tickets.

    Bwah....ha...ha....
    sexist trope....blah...blah
Harris is an idiot of indeterminate ethics and character.

I don't recall saying Trump will be okay on foreign policy. He is chaotic. Even Putin said they prefer Biden because there's some predictability where Trump is unpredictable. Erratic is probably a better word. I'm really not a supporter of Trump. I'm a bit between a rock and a hard place choosing between Mr. Sketchy Chaos and the other side (that resembles the latter stages of entropy). I don't know what I will do yet. But I am not a Trump fan or supporter and have no intention of voting for Harris. I don't own a MAGA hat. If Blinken were running I would strongly consider him.

    Harris will be the nominee.

This election is not about Trump v. Harris. It is about Democratic voter turnout. And that just got a huge boost.

I bet I know what qualifies you to make this assessment.

    Trump is a despot-loving disaster.
Quoting Putin, on literally anything? Cute. Not surprising.

Oh wow. You are a picture of a typical Russian "I'm not a Putin supporter, but..." poster. they are a valuable fodder in any authoritarian movement: people priding themselves on being too smart for crude propaganda yet reliably playing into Dear Leader's hands.

"but he is not, so I will be FORCED to vote for a pussy-grabbing felon, and IT IS NOT MY FAULT, IT'S YOURS!!! wah wah " Been there, saw that, do NOT own a t-shirt.

Putin did say that he would like Biden over Trump because of Trump's chaos. I'm certain he was just lying though. He wants Trump to win because it would make America weaker in the world, especially with NATO. Trump will also happily let Ukraine be overrun by Russia, which I'm sure is the most important reason that Putin really wants Trump to win.

There may well be more intellectual people out there but if Kamala ends up being the Democratic nominee, she is still far more intelligent and ethical than Donald Trump any day of the week. No intelligent or sane person could look at DJT and think he is fit for any public office.

Dude can play. All kinds of qualifications and background and he rocks! I can see him making the rounds on the talk shows and playing with different bands like the Foo fighters, etc.

John Kerry was bassist for The Electras, a garage rock band at his prep school. They pressed 500 copies of their 1961 album. It's now on streaming services (credited as John Kerry and the Electras, which disambiguates them from unrelated Electras out there).
