    Still waiting for the compliments...

(Steve, you may complement me instead if you'd like, but I don't think we go well together.)

    Compliments only? o_O
    • Quick witted, intelligent or insightful
    • Politically calculating (sociologically)
    • Shrewd (not nefariously)
    • Conservative (but doesn't fully realize it yet - may be 10-15 years out for a full manifestation and revelation)
Dr. Levicoff will be delighted - no, ecstatic - to point out the negatives. o_O

The age requirement for possession of a handgun varies by state.

Once owning guns is legal, the age to own a gun should not be higher than the age young people are send to foreign wars by politicians to sacrifice themselves. I saw many 19 years old dying in foreign lands in wars. My guess 18 years to go die for your country. Then 18 should be at most the universal age for gun ownership.

In the U.S., you can join the military at 17 with parental consent. In some states, you're automatically charged as an adult at the age of 17 and sent to adult correctional facilities, but you can't vote or do much of anything else.

While men ages 18-25 are required to register for selective service, men under the age of 20 are only drafted if everyone 20-25 has been drafted.

If you can die a horrible death at 17 in a foreign land for your country then at the minimum one should be able to vote at 17. I a not promoting guns, but the same goes for gun ownership. My guess the wealthy are not lining up their kids at 17 to join the military. I feel the same about the undocumented, if one is willing is die for the country, what more can anyone expect them to do to prove their loyalty?

The voting age was 21 when I was in the Army.

21 was too high a voting age if you were already in the military as a teenager. Many of us saw those rolling PSAs on the TV with fatalities in foreign wars with their ages. All deaths are serious but there is something visceral when it includes teenagers. My opinion, no man-made law should exclude teenagers in the military any rights because of their age.
