In reading the TESC catalog closely, I noticed that the limitation of two 100-level courses applying toward a BA appear in the requirements for a "Concentration" (covering three or more subjects in a liberal arts area) and the "BA in Liberal Studies" (two or more subjects in a liberal arts area). However this limitation does NOT appear in the requirements for an individual subject "Area of Study." I found the same thing in the TESC Program Planning Handbook. Does anyone know for sure if the limit of two 100-level courses applies to a BA individual subject Area of Study?
I always assumed that the upper level requirements were the same for the individual area of study AND they had to be from the general education section. If not couldn't I just apply my 33 FEMA credits towards the area of study?
update after calling tesc . . . I called Tesc today and spoke with an admissions counselor. While I'm not certain that its the final word, he said that the 100-level limititation does NOT apply to an individual subject area of study for the BA. The limitation DOES apply to a concentration or the liberal studies area of study. The FEMA credits won't work for an area of study in the BA - they're not liberal arts. However, it appears that they will cover most of the requirements for a tesc BSHS degree. There doesn't appear to be a level requirement for that degreee either.
