First off, I have my fingers crossed for you too! I'm sure you'll get in and I can't wait to hear alllll about it. UNE is (was) my first choice school because my only living family lives in Kennebunk, so I'd be 1300 miles closer to them than I am now! That, and the fact that they are the ONLY medical school teaching science ONLINE just makes them sooo cool in my book. FWIW, they have both hands on labs via DL and virtual labs, I'll be interested to hear your experiences.

The DO program is pretty "geographically selective" as I'm sure you've heard, but I have no idea as to the ratios of other students in other programs.

When I contacted 2 science professors at UNE about letters of rec (bio 1, chem1), both told me that they would not write a letter for a UNE application, but otherwise they would do so within the scope that they could. I'm not sure how they would keep me from sending the letter to UNE since it would be in my application database, but I mention it because it could be a "suggested answer" to the question...the truth? I have no idea. I'm telling you because you'll have to figure out a way to get your UNE prof to put a a letter in your file!

Which science are you taking? (don't tell me biochem or I'll just faint right here and now).

P.S. I'm thinking PCOM was actually one of the schools that didn't allow DL science, but please don't quote me. I had a beautiful spreadsheet to keep track of all this so that it didn't take up brain space lol.

    Jennifer,

Thanks so much for providing this information. Right now I'm *this close* to applying to the UNE MPH program. DO school is highly unlikely for me, as I don't think I could afford 4 years of lost income (not to mention the loans). That said, I am hoping that I can still make a difference in people's lives with an MPH.

I might just go ahead and apply to the UNE MPH program now, as I've already completed a stats course and an intro bio course elsewhere (for my undergrad). Hopefully these courses combined with my GPA will be enough to get me in.

Thanks for the positive vibes! :)
