    Hi,

Just found this website https://www.aiuedu.global/ they claim to be accredited again by ASIC, and based in NC.
I have contacted NC University System several times and they didn't answer my emails. How to confirm if this is a legit university?

Note: when you click on any url, make sure to add www in front of each new url to get it working.

No IRS records of any nonprofit.

    Any help?

ASIC is not a recognized institutional accreditor. This school is not accredited institutionally or programmatically, not even state recognized but they're offering Nursing programs? What could go wrong?

    In short, Run!

Yes. Don't consider them. If an ASIC is only "accredited" by ASIC, you should see this rather as a warning sign.

I really like that when you stop and grab a pizza while attending class. I mean it's New York style... so it has to be good, no?

It also appears that they're still working on their newest site...

I mean that's all understandable since it was recently launched with GoDaddy...

As someone who lives in NC it is not legitimate, but NC has strange laws that can allow universities to set up. For example it has a strong religious exemption clause, so strong that even religious institutions can choose to register on the exempted list or not and still be legal. https://www.northcarolina.edu/offices-and-services/academic-affairs/licensure-department/ At the same time a university can be licensed to operate in NC without obtaining licensure if it meets 4 requirements. The said university is not on any list so I would say it is not a university, simply operating, but if they were to offer religious degrees they would actually be legal in NC or if they were based in another state, that also too would be legal.

As for having IRS exemption, that is not necessarily required for someone to set up a non profit in NC or in America, it is helpful of course, but not a requirement. Same goes for a religious institution in NC, they can simply set up without having to be registered as a non profit, it happens all of the time. In fact in my town we have no less than 5 religious seminaries that are set up and running, without being licensed etc, and they are legally able to do so.

I understand some universities may have the intention to be licensed in many states but some of those universities misusing the this loophole of being able to operate while they are seeking to obtain new license.

This entity is unaccredited, with a name similar to another questionable org, and renting a small office/mailing address at a strip mall... not sure University would be a name I’d apply to it... to each their own.

I don't believe they are operating as a religious organization. I found this on their website

I am not interested to apply for this entity but it made me question how would ASIC accredit them without state authorization as a degree-granting authority.

ASIC is not an actual accreditor per say in the mold of American accreditors. It is a british entity and that should raise flags to you, that an american institution would have to find a british organization to try and "accredit" itself.

In fact this is from ASIC's own website:
    "
ASIC is a UK Visas and Immigration approved accreditation body for the purposes of the Short-term study visa.

    https://www.gov.uk/study-visit-visa/eligibility

The following link indicates what the requirements for the Short-term study visa are:

    https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa

For further guidance about applications for visas, leave to enter and leave to remain in the UK, please visit the UKVI website on the following link here."

Whenever ASIC is brought up, lots of people have questions... most of your answers are going to surround the varying reasons an organization chooses to pursue their stamp...

To add to that, they also don’t have the best reputation in the UK and their international stamps (don’t believe it warrants the term of accredidation) have limited recognition even in the UK.

Where do people find these fly-by-night schools? This is the number one result in a Google search for "american international university" north carolina.

Often times the thread starter is from one of the schools but posing as a curious poster.

No, I don't work for this school as you said. I received an investigation to like their page on Facebook. I posted the school name here because a quick search revealed didn't come up with any details.

I can't find any Facebook pages for this school. Can you link the one that you got the invitation for?

I wasn't accusing you personally, just pointing out that it tends to be the case when very obscure schools are brought up by new posters.
