#2 of 2; more on dual ACU sites

    ...continued from previous post...

I am not particularly knowledgeable about matters relating to the engineering aspects of aircraft and spacecraft. As do other physicists, I know why wings generate lift, but almost everything else I know comes from building model airplanes and reading memoirs of fighter pilots as a child. A careful evaluation of my "life experiences" should probably reveal that I needed at least a half-dozen undergraduate and several graduate courses before being thought qualified to pursue thesis research in Aerospace Enginering.

Here's email from ".org site" instantiation of ACU after they processed my evaluation form.

    Dear George Gollin
    Hello

    No required classes!

The next step involves submission of a PhD thesis proposal. My (real) PhD thesis was titled Charm Production by Muons and Its Role In Scale-Noninvariance; it described measurements of the production of heavy quarks by high energy muons at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. I sent ".org site" instantiation of ACU this title, along with the middle section of the thesis abstract, to see if they would accept a high energy physics thesis for a PhD in Aerospace Engineering:

    ------Thesis topic form------
    First Name: George
    Last Name: Gollin
    Address: 1110 West Green Street
    City: Urbana
    State: IL
    Zip Code: 61801
    Country: USA

    Degree Program: PhD
    Specialization: Aerospace Engineering
Thesis Topic: Charm Production By Muons and its Role In Scale-Noninvariance

Explain the description of thesis topic briefly.

The nu-dependence of the charm muoproduction cross section is similar to
that of the photon-gluon-fusion model. A first determination of the
structure function F2(ccbar) for diffractive charm production indicates that
charm accounts for approximately 1/3 of the scale-noninvariance observed in
muon-nucleon scattering at low Bjorken x.

    Completion Date:

    Tentative Date:ASAP
Deadline Date: I think it says two years from now on the web site.

I hereby agree with all the rules and regulation of University to to earn
    the accredited degree.

Candidate Sign: Date of Submission: George Gollin, 8/28/03

A thesis describing an elementary particle physics experiment has very little to do with aerospace engineering.

    =====

sorry this is so long; the .edu ACU site has expressed its surprise at the existence of a second site, and is concerned that their policies and those of the .org site will be confused by potential participants.

This mill is too greedy. A smarter mill would have recognized that it was out of its depth with George's topic.

I shall make a note of this for when I start my own mill.

A few days ago, I posted the following in this forum:
"For the record, Richard Hoyer, who at one time controlled American Coastline University is also a (or the) founder of St. Regis University."

I wish to apologize profoundly and profusely for this making these unfounded allegations on this tabloid website. I had no business whatsoever behaving in this harrassing, annoying, and unprofessional way on this tabloid website. If my daughter had anything whatsoever to do with the teaching of ethics, which she does not, I would certainly ask her for advice.

I shall cease and desist from harassing, annoying, and unprofessional non-sense on this tabloid website and in my life in general.

    I really will.

Thank you so much for your understanding.

    John Bear

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    By the way . . . I received the following E-mail yesterday from Dr. Richard J. Hoyer <[email protected]>:

    "John Bear:

Do you get an erection every time you put my name in print?

Can you explain_what legitimate purpose you have in posting my name and unfounded allegations about me on this tabloid web site?

I have_asked you in the past to address me directly with any questions you may have, rather than just making_statements without facts. You assured me that you would? Obviously you should consider having your daughter teach you a course on "ethics."

This is the last time_I request_that you_cease and desist this harassing, annoying, and unprofessional non-sense._Should this continue, I shall explore_legal recourse."

    linguistic analysis

    Hi folks,

The term "tabloid web site" is interesting. I received email from Daniel Taylor, Ph.D., M.D. (president of the www.amercoastuniv.edu instantiation of American Coastline University) concerning DegreeInfo.com. He refers to "a public tabloid forum at www.degreeinfo.com". I'd never thought of an electronic medium as a "tabloid" and it caught my attention to see the same term in Dr. Taylor's and Dr. Hoyer's communications.

I do notice hits on my web page at http://www.hep.uiuc.edu/home/g-gollin/nonCHEA/ from the domain rochester.rr.com, so perhaps Dr. Hoyer has seen the information there. Perhaps he could clarify the existence of two sites for ACU, and the RJH initials of the registrant for the www.amercoastuniv.org site?

There are two points made by Dr. Taylor in his message which, in the interest of clarity/fairness should be repeated here: "American Coastline University doesn't own www.amercoastuniv.org" and "Ms. Keller is an ACU administrator and has never referred to herself as an "advisor" nor just used the first initial of her name."

The letter from the www.amercoastuniv.org instantiation of American Coastline University informing me that I was judged qualified to receive a PhD in Aerospace Engineering (once I had submitted a thesis and other documentation) was signed "L. Keller/Advisor." The www.amercoastuniv.edu instantiation of American Coastline University lists its Director of Admissions as "Linda Keller."

In his message Dr. Taylor asked about the origins of my "investigative training and expertise in higher education" since I don't list an "Ed.D." or "graduate degree in criminal justice" in my biographical information. Investigative training is what learning to do scientific research is all about. My expertise in higher education obviously comes from my experiences as a teacher at the university level.

It seems immodest to post them, but since he asked, let's get this out into the open. Here are some of my credentials:
    A.B. Harvard University (1975)
    M.A. Princeton University (1977)
    Ph.D. Princeton University (1981)
Robert R. McCormick Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Chicago (1980-1982)
Research Associate, Enrico Fermi Institute of the University of Chicago (1982-1983)
Assistant Professor of Physics, Princeton University (1983-1989)
Associate Professor of Physics, University of Illinos at Urbana-Champaign (1989-1996)
Professor of Physics, University of Illinos at Urbana-Champaign (1996-present)

    That's enough for now.

    tracks of Mr. Chasse

A short comment this time, then I'll get back to work.

The ACU document titled "General Catalog" at

    http://www.amercoastuniv.edu/ACUCatalog2003.pdf

is a modification-protected pdf file which lists its author as "Ray Chasse" and its title as

"///////DRAFT PROPOSAL – NOT FOR RELEASE TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL ACCEPTED BY THE"

in the file's "Document Summary" dialog box. So Mr. Chasse may be involved.

Now I'll get back to work.

Which involvement is Hoyer denying: American Coastline or Saint Regis?

If it's American Coastline, is the 2001 message quoted at http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=92uuti%24cqn%241%40taliesin.netcom.net.uk, bearing the following signature, a forgery?
If it's Saint Regis, is the following information, provided by Saint Regis professor Leonard van der Walt here, incorrect?
