Does anyone have insight into alumni awards? I've noted that great number of them seem to go to graduates in business as opposed to people in human services or liberal arts areas of accomplishment. Is my perception correct or wrong? These CEOs and bankers may have a greater capacity for financial contributions than say accomplished poets or social workers. Are they mostly rewards for financial contribution or are they for scholarly work? What is the difference between the criteria for a school giving an honorary doctorate vs a distinguished alumni award other than the alumni went there? Thanks for any replies in advance.
