I am now going into my third term with AIU Online. Each week consists of a 5 week term. I am in the Business Administration curriculum. I have attended traditional universities as well, AIU did accept a large portion of my credits already earned. But I will honestly say, Online learning is MUCH more difficult (to me at least). You must be very self disciplined, and possess great time management skills. There is great interaction between all students and professors, which both provide a great forum for increased learning capabilities. They stress the importance of group work, by requiring at least one group project per 5 week term, discussion boards in which everyone participates, live chat sessions, and professor's office hours for even more individualized access. Not to mention most (if not all) professors give out their phone numbers in case you are more comfortable discussing an issue over the phone. I happen to love it, it is fully accredited by SACS, and was one of the Department of Education's pilot programs for distance learning. By the way, SACS is the same accrediting board for the likes of Duke and Vanderbilt. The curriculum/courses are not easy, is not a breeze and most certainly is not a "mail order" certificate, you have to truly earn your credits. I view it as an incredible challenge to help stress both group and independent studies, as well as fit into an already business work schedule. Hope this helped some!!

I get a lot of email ads from AIU. The accreditation feature is great. However, is it true that one can graduate with a Masters in eight months? I find that difficult to fathom.

I am a few months into my Masters at a CA State Approved school, and with the thesis project, I do not see myself completing the program in under a year.

This not to say it can not be done, however, if one is working full-time, has a family - looks to be nearly impossible.

All the power to you in pursuing your degree.

I do agree. However, one thing I have noticed. There is an awful lot of information crammed into a 5 week course. So, is it possible? Yes. Is it difficult to do with full-time job, family, etc....very. The information is presented in a way in which I grasp very well, others may not. But I do agree, it does seem a bit overwhelming for 8 months.
