    Hi all,

My best friend has taught Humanities at the community college level for several years. Over the past year, she has become involved with leading "study abroad" groups (2-3 week trips of cc students, for credit, in conjunction with a course) for her cc. Recently, she got a really nice grant from CIEE, I think, to expand this program, and a new division has been created in her college. She is moving out of teaching for the most part, and into this more admin role.

Her main focus in her job is what she terms the internationalization of education, or, at least the internationalization of her college. Not only is the study abroad program expanding, but the cc is very interested in opening up a satellite campus, or program, outside of the U.S. -- probably Asia.

She is very interested in returning to school for a DL-based doctorate, as that will certainly help her advance in the admin ranks. I can point her to the usual suspects for Educational Administration (or Leadership), which is what I think is appropriate for what she wants to do with the degree.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of a particular Ed. Admin. degree and/or faculty that would have some expertise in the area of internationalizing educational programs? I personally think it's rather cutting-edge, what her cc is doing, but then it's not my field, so I could be way off base.

Also, is anyone familiar with Walden's Ph.D. in Community College Leadership, or if other programs similar to that exist in DL format?

Although I have general knowledge of what's out there, I figured I'd check with the fine folks in these fora for a more thorough idea of what would be appropriate for my friend.

    Thanks, y'all!

    Cheers,
    Adrienne
