So I lost my wallet in a Los Angeles "barrio". I live in the suburbs of Orange County, Cali. I figured it was lost forever, so I immediately cancelled all credits cards and other assorted ID cards. I had my Drivers license and social security card in there as well. I didn't notice it was missing until I got home after an hour drive. I figured some gang banger probably found it and assumed my identity, plus charged up all of my credit cards (large money limits). Well, I was mistaken, this morning I got a call from my union. Apparently someone found my wallet and called my union (I had a union card in there). They connected the gentleman's call to me. After speaking with him, I went to meet him at a Donut Shop. A little old Hispanic man greeted me at the door, and handed over my wallet. I still can't believe it. There were many things in my wallet that can't be replaced. I give him a reward which he did not want to take, so I threw it on the table, told him "gracias senor" and split before he could say no. It was found in a parking lot. The old man said "adios mijo". Just when I lose my faith in humanity, something like this happens. I mean, this was a part of LA where you can get shoot just by looking at somebody! Abs - Holy chingos!
Gracias Koolcypher. It is such a relief to have my wallet back. I had a lot of sentimental stuff in there that can't be replaced. Here is a story of a homeless man returning a purse with $400.00 cash in it. Homeless man returns purse with $400 to Pennsylvania cancer victim It warms my heart.
All I usually carry in my wallet is a driving license, one credit card, and $10 to $50. Everything else is accessible though my cell phone. I carry my wallet in a pocket with fastener. If traveling I carry a second pouch I wear round my neck with passport and AMEX card.
My wallet was stolen once, nothing irreplaceable was in it, but it was pretty inconvenient. I'm glad your story had a happy ending!
