Never heard of him or the Academy but his return would seem to be unfortunate. Secular or religious, restoration and change are possible. That doesn't necessarily entail being put in positions of responsibility at least not this soon. And there should be safeguards in place.

Chuck Colson (Watergate) became a changed man whose impact was felt in the lives of prisoners and their families. By all accounts I have seen he led an exemplary life after his faith conversion. So, it is possible. On the other hand Welton used his ministry as a cover for his abuse and that seems to put him in a different situation.

Second thought, because he was supposedly converted and used his ministry for grooming women, he needs to never have ministry responsibilities as a leader ever again. He should go find secular work and serve his faith community in humble and well supervised roles and just accept that is the price he needs to bear.

But where's the unearned sense of righteousness and superiority going to come from then?!
