I suppose that ABC (and atheists for that matter) know as much (and as little) about "the afterlife" as anyone else.

It's hard to imagine what a TV special on a subject that nobody really knows anything about will look like.

Scholars might take descriptive, historical, philosophical, psychological or comparative approaches towards beliefs about the afterlife. A popular TV program is probably going to interview a lot of people on camera, present a lot of sound-bite opinions, and then end up with a non-committal conclusion.

(I wonder if ABC will interview near-death-experience advocates, spirit mediums and all the edgier people interested in this stuff, or whether they will play it safe with the mainstream traditions.)

Yes, some who have experienced "near death" will be interviewed. Rev. Calvin Butts, pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church, NYC, will be one of these.

    Well, I watched it...

Too bad that didn't end-up being true.

    Pablum... or worse.

    As predicted. :(

There was a multi page story in the Los Angeles Times last Sunday on Scientology and their multi million training estate near Los Angeles. Some points raised:
    * Sounds like they treat Tom Cruise like a god.
    * They built a multi million dollar mansion for L. Ron Hubard to live in when he returns.
    * Employees have to sign a billion year contract.
