Little fauss and all - I'm pretty curious about these programs. Much has been said about them in this forum and they sound like a viable alternative to US DL programs.

But has anyone met a real live graduate of one of these programs? Do any grads from these programs participate in this NG?

I'm asked frequently about DL doctoral programs. I'll mention the British schools - but usually follow with "But I'm not sure what the success rate is ....". The U.S. programs such as NSU have the advantage of having real graduates in circulation. My view of the US DL programs is that the key requirement for graduation is endurance. I'm not sure about the British programs. Is forced attrition common?

    Regards - Andy

These programs are heavily research-oriented. Since there is no coursework, it takes a really a disciplined mind to complete them. Five years of independent research under the direction of a supervisor can be a very lonely.
