Hello Fellow Learners, I had heard a while back that Tarleton State University was attempting to earn AACSB accreditation. I cannot find any update on the status or a listing of candidate schools. Does anyone know if they are still attempting to earn this accreditation, and if so what the status is? Thanks, Chris
Tarleton State does not appear to be accredited by AACSB at this time. Tarleton State is listed on the AACSB website as an "educational member", but this is not the same as accreditation. Tartleton State is not on AACSB's list of accredited schools. It looks like Tarleton State's business school has historically been accredited by ACBSP, which is another recognized accreditation agency for business programs. ACBSP accreditation is less prestigious, but easier to get, than AACSB accreditation. In 2011, Tarleton State announced that its ACBSP accreditation had been reaffirmed for another 10 years.
In 2010, Tarleton State prepared an internal list of "PRIORITIES/IMPERATIVES/GOALS FOR 2020". Item #5 on the list is: In March 2012, Tarleton State advertised for tenure-track positions in Human Resource Management and in Accounting. Both ads included language like this: So it looks like Tarleton State does have AACSB accreditation as a long-term goal. They have indicated that they want to achieve this by 2020, but obviously there are no guarantees. For now, they have ACBSP.
If you’re interest is for an AACSB online MBA; have you considered any other Texas A&M University System options (e.g., such as West Texas A&M College of Business which recently obtained AACSB accreditation)? West Texas A&M University: Online Master of Business Administration Degree
