Hey, I am getting ready to go back to uni. I have attended Empire and have a few credits from them. However, I was wondering if they accept straighterline, aleks, ECE's or UExcel. I prefer one of these two as I am a NY resident and can get financial aid from the State of NY. I would prefer Empire as there credits are a bit cheaper then excelsior and I am still considered matriculated. Could I also enroll in Clovis community colllege to get cheaper lower level course credit and have it accepted by Empire? Do they except FEMA credits? I really like Empire's model in that you can basically choose the classes you want and tailor your degree to the classes you prefer. A few things I cannot do is take CLEPS or DANTES tests as there are no testing facilities within driving distance. Also, I have been in IT for a very long time but want to get a BS in international business, which I can get at Empire. However, I was told by my advisor to maybe change to a BS in Information Systems as I would get work credit. Anyone know if either school will give credit for Exams completed..ie..CCNA,CCNA-security, LPI 1, CISSP, MCP, Project+? I am also trying to find the quickest route to the degree without being able to take CLEPS.
CLEPS are such a good value that it's really worth traveling somewhere to take a bunch of them. Just plan to make a road trip out of it and stay the night in a hotel.
If you are matriculated at ESC, you may need permission to take courses elsewhere. The Undergraduate Catalog should address their transfer policies, and your adviser should obviously also be able to tell you.
Excelsior definitely gives credit for the CCNA and Project+ It doesn't mention the CCISP or MCP in their catalog, so you'd would have to ask them
