Hello. I am currently wrapping up an Associates in Applied Science degree at Rasmussen College (. My courses were in the Network Security and Forensics curriculum. I have been a network administrator for five years and have some MS and CompTIA certs. I would like to obtain a Bachelors degree in computer science or information technology and would like some suggestions as to what online colleges offer credit transfers from Rasmussen. I am not looking for a degree mill, however, I am a very busy person with a wife, two children, and a career. I would like to find a college which allows me to complete my bachelors within a year. FYI - Rasmussen is accredited by the NHLC. Rasmussen College Accreditation Statements I look forward to your recommendations. Thanks!
I completed a BS at Charter Oak. I had my MCSE (NT 4.0), MCP+Internet, A+, and Net+ at the time and I got quite a few credits for them. I completed my BS (from AA) in four month with the certs and CLEP exams.
Compressing 60 credits in 1 year is tough, especially you have a family and a job. Troy University offers 5 terms per year. You can transfer up to 90 credits (60 lower, 30 upper). You can take up to 15 credits per term. They offer Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science.
That degree plus your certs will most likely correlate to most of a BSLS at Excelsior or even a BS in IT. You'd just have to CLEP your generals, and whatever odd requirements were missing.
Check out WGU. It's entirely possible to do 60 credits in a year there if your certs map to their program, and your AAS probably will get you past their gen ed reqs. You could potentially enter as a late yr3 or yr 4.
Thanks for the input, everyone. Does anyone have an opinion on Ashford University? It looks like they transfer up to 99 credits and certifications. Thanks again.
