48 percent of colleges, 2.2 million students using free OpenStax textbooks this year

Given the outrageous price of so many textbooks, it isn't hard to see why.

I've downloaded a couple of them. (Big pdf files. Some have different versions with or without color illustrations etc.) All free.

They are just as good as conventional textbooks in my opinion. Peer reviewed and out of Rice University.

All of them seem to be for freshman introductory subjects.
