The headline is misleading, to the point where it's teetering on being completely false. This is a single statement from an organization that claims to represent all of the churches in question, irrespective of the actual sentiments of the churches' members.

This group, National Council of Churches, is nothing more than a Social Justice Warrior network that uses the extremely thin veil of religion as a front.

To say that they are somehow representative of support from thousands of churches would be like saying a statement from a regional accreditor was representative of support from thousands of universities.

It actually IS an organization representing all these churches. But yeah, it's not like they did a survey or a vote, and I bet the real sentiment of all the congragations in NCC jurisdictions runs a full spectrum with highest mass concentrated on "indifference". UOC-USA, which is a Siamese twin of the church I attend (UOC-Canada, both being Metropolises under the Ecumenical Throne of Constantinople), is a NCC member; I can't imagine them taking a position one way or another. This is simply not in the Synod's or Consistory's sphere of interests. Besides, in this politically charged time (UOCUSA and UOCC hierarchs are directly engaged in efforts to liberate the Church of Ukraine from Moscow's influence - the most potent powder keg in the whole Orthodox world. Moscow already refuses to concelebrate with all bishops under Constantinople jurisdiction) - they can't afford to piss off U.S. Administration, no matter who runs it.
