More responses for the benefit of Rich, who could not possibly avoid reading this thread . . .

    1. "Would you like a little cheese with your whine?"

    2. "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."

    3. "Wow, smart move, Rich. All you have to to is say goodbye and you start getting all these compliments. If I ever need my ego stroked, now I know how to do it."

Now, let's get to the bottom line, Rich. You're willing to take abuse on A.E.D. but can't stomach it here? Nonsense. Whether you to be an activist or educator (or both), get used to the heat in the kitchen. If I can take it (and I have taken it for a hell of a lot more years than you) - not to mention that if John can take it (and he has taken it for a hell of a lot more years than me) - then so can you. You didn't go ahead and earn an RA doctorate just to turn into a chickenshit. (Or did you? Never mind, that's a rhetorical question.)

So cut the prima donna temper tantrum and start acting like a professional. And I'll even stop ribbing you about your sordid history with MIGS. Well, eventually. :D

And if that's not good enough for you, you'll always have Jimmy Clifton to kiss your butt.

I'm absolutely certain that this is true.

Since Rich apparently won't answer let me pretend to try.

The difference from my point of view is that on a.e.d., it is expected. While here if you respond to the degree mill apologists in kind then you are breaking the TOS the same as them. This can set up the feelings that things are unfair. Whereas on a.e.d. unfairness is irrelevant. There's no pretense that anyone is imposing anything on anyone. An example here is how the degree mill apologists love to make personal attacks disguised as complaints about unequal enforcement of the TOS. So I believe that they too have feelings of sometimes being treated unfairly. On the other hand since they are wrong, obviously of lower intelligence and suffer from personal problems of odoriferous proportions, it seems fair to treat them differently. :D

Note that I'm NOT blaming the moderators for these feelings of unfairness. I'm arguing that it should be an expected by product of any forum where there's some moderation going on.

P.S. I know it was a long way to go just so I could throw in the word "odoriferious" but, personally I got enough of a laugh out of it to make it worthwhile.

I'm with Steve L all the way with this one. Steve, if you can get any money down on Rich returning, put some on for me. (George Brown's pretty flush at the moment so I can get my hands on some money.)

Rich is an addict. This is his life. He averages 4 posts a day - that's every day, day in day out - imagine how much time that must take? Then add in his activity on AED! (I'm flat out reading maybe one in fifty threads and posting occasionally.)

He'll be back. I can feel him getting the shakes right now.

    Kind regards

Not to mention the old about.com Distance Education Forum (which is actually still around) and The Union Institute & University's Graduate Learners group on Yahoo, both of which still get significant contributions from Rich.

Rich may be supplementing his cyber-addiction with other "drugs," but even he knows that degreeinfo.com is the most potent.

It's only a matter of time before we have him in our clutches again. In the meantime, his rap in this thread kind of reminds me of Nixon's classic, "You won't have Richard [Nixon or Douglas, take your pick] to kick around anymore."

    Sure we will! :D

....lets research this. Let's see... using Rich's method, for a population of around 10,000 degreeinfoers out there, an appropriate sample would be...... carry the one, multiply the square root of the correlation coefficient, divided by the confidence interval........3. So, all in favor of a return say aye...... aye. All opposed say nay..... nay, nay. There you have it. The people have spoken. The findings are irrefutable.

Las Vegas odds-makers are working feverishly on this one. The last time Rich was gone for less than a month (11/24/02 - 12/23/02). I'm willing to bet the first round of drinks at the "first annual degreeinfo reunion/conference/whatever" that Rich makes it to six weeks this time. C'mon Rich, you can do it! Remember, in a pinch, any twelve-step meeting will do. :D

    Six weeks.....?

I think Rich might stick it out that long. Maybe the cold turkey is working.

Is Rich made of sterner stuff than we think?

What we need is some REAL ammo to back up Steve L. We need the pros. Peter French has been flushed out on another thread after a long absence. Peter says its a one off, but ...

    Kind regards

    Rich,

I have learned a lot from you and others on this board. You should continue to share your knowlege and experience...besides, if you never post again, how would you hit 5,000 posts ? :D
