that, or Dr. George's site got hacked.... I seriously doubt that SRU is suing the school over this.

    da Bears

I have to tell you, I've never been able to be a real Bears fan. I remember watching the 1963 Bears-Giants championship game in which the Bears gave Y.A. Tittle, the Giants' quarterback, a rather bad time. (The Bears won, 14-10.) I was a youngster then, growing up in the suburbs of New York, and I was not pleased.

And don't get me started about the Celtics vs. the Knicks.

No, the site didn't get hacked. It's an interesting story, and I have some work to do concerning it, and I need to be cool for the moment.

My impression is that collecting information so that it becomes part of the publc record is an effective way to go about business. Facts are facts. Period.

    cheers,
    GG

"Summary of a CNN television broadcast [...]
    Professor Dr. Dennis Chandler [...]
NOTE: George Gollin also appeared, but his portion was snipped because his website contained defamatory content and was ordered closed by the University of Illinois on Sept 18, 2003."

"Snipped because", eh? SRU had its CNN transcript on that Web page, sans Dr Gollin's comments, since at least Sep 4 (see http://www.degreeinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9723). And they edited it that way "because" of something that happened 2 weeks later?

The full CNN transcript is still at http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0308/30/nac.00.html, and includes Chandler saying, "And I agree with Dr. Gollin 100 percent as far as the quality of education that's online. [...] So what I did is I took all of my experience, I did the online searches Dr. Gollin suggests, and I believe 100 percent in that. [...] So, depending on your area of expertise -- and I agree, again, we have more similarities than we have differences here as far as Dr. Gollin and my opinions on this."

Dennis Chandler is now SRU's "Official Spokesperson": http://saintregis.edu.lr/reflections.htm

Facts are facts. Since a picture is said to be worth a thousand words, take a look at the enclosed jpeg please.

    Re: da Bears

Well George, someday we might have to have that Celtics/Knicks conversation but in the meantime I'll tell you that Willis Reed's performance in the 1970 championship, game seven (vs. LA Lakers), playing on that injured knee was one of the most inspiring moments in sports. It was back when people played for something more than money.
    Good luck,
    Jack

    brain teasers

Here are REALLY difficult questions for you to ponder. Sensible folks will find these 27 times harder to answer than other questions one might be asked. A little digging will reveal more brain teasers.

In that song from "Oklahoma" the corn is as high as... ?

What's the highest mountain in the world?

    Is fungus a mineral?

What does the acronym "UFO" stand for?

Ouch, they make my head hurt.

Oh dear, did someone electronically agree to the following terms, and then break his word?
Also, does not the "7 questions carry 27 times more weight" conclusion depend on (1) Prof. Gollin's being truthful (which I believe, but the SRU folk do not; I don't suppose he had witnesses the first time he took the test?); and (2) SRU's not having raised the passing score after reading Prof. Gollin's account of the first time he took the test?

But if those really are the questions, it means SRU is awarding Associate's degrees to anyone who knows how to look up answers on the Web; so I wouldn't expect SRU's degrees to be accepted any time soon.

Len, it doesn't seem that SRU has turned over a new leaf as you claimed? It appears that SRU is still a degree mill. If I sound surprised by this, then I must apologize for being misleading.

I am going to defame the Liberian government.

    Watch me:

"Charles Taylor is a noble statesman. President Obasanjo of Nigeria should be grateful that President Taylor will be visiting for a long time as a special favor shown by this great world leader. The UN war crimes indictment is a regrettable case of mistaken identity, given the close physical resemblance between President Taylor and Gen. Ratko Mladic. All of his ministers are selfless public servants. Liberian intervention in Sierra Leone was designed to protect the brown teal. Moses Blah never went to Libya to consort with world peace advocate Muammar Qaddafi. The falsely labeled 23 years of civil war is actually an innovative physical education program for Liberia's underprivileged youth. The NBOE has accreditation standards higher than any American regional accreditor. Any school accredited by them is absolutely stellar and Saint Regis is the best of them all."
