    Rich,

If I recall, your dissertation was to deal with the acceptability of degrees at different levels of approval/accreditation. Is this correct? Is there a way interested parties can purchase a copy?

That's correct. The dissertation will be available through UMI, as is typical of those from accredited schools. I might also publish it with www.dissertation.com. If I do, I'll let the board know where it is.

Congratulations Rich! So...will you be publishing any articles or books on this concentration. I'd be one of the first to line up at the book store.
    warmest regards! :)

This is extremely kind. Thank you.

The results might find their way into a journal.

I don't see the dissertation evolving into a book. Small audience, arcane subject.

Maybe Degreeinfo will publish it in .pdf format and sell it?

  8. Great idea. Or they could use POD (Print-on-demand) technology to have it published cheaply and yet professionally. Something like iUniverse, Infinity, Booklocker.com, etc.

Writers.net is doing this with a collection of writing from its members. They're using iUniverse and are offering a nice, professionally bound paperback.

Cehi: That is good to know. You may also choose to individually, freely publish your dissertation or view other dissertations from individuals whose degree granting schools does not have programs for Eletronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) at the Networked Digital Library for Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) website at http://etdindividuals.dlib.vt.edu:9090/

Your dissertation, I suppose would be freely available to the readers globally. Additionally, you may get more information at their main web address www.ndltd.org

You have to enroll as a member in order to freely submit your dissertations though. Hey, the sources for communicating to the world is getting more easier. I wonder what future effect these free avenue would have for UMI with their exorbitant fees to buy dissertations since most schools are now members of the NDLTD.

Again, on the accomplishment of your Ph.D, I say more grease to your elbow. Your journey to enlighten the world on non-traditional higher education should continue. Thank you for sharing your wisdom on non-traditional higher education with us.

    Congratulations Dr. Douglas.

I learnt what Regional Accreditation was from reading your posts here and elsewhere sometime ago, and that helped me avoid falling prey to not-so-wonderful schools. I am now pursuing a BA degree at TESC, thank you and once again congratulations Dr. Douglas.

You're very kind. I hope your TESC degree program works out for you.

To others, again I say "thanks" :)

    Good evening, Rich!

Although you have now earned your terminal degree, I somehow think your roles in the acquisition, creation, and dissemination of knowledge in the field of education will continue in the future.

    Congratulations on your accomplishment.

    Regards,

    James

    Rich,

Congratulations. I have been reading your replies and they consistently provide common sense answers to questions about distance learning.

    All the best,

Taken from the IT and Computer thread.

As someone who's been studying and working in nontraditional higher education since 1979, I would like to see DETC do well, too. I would also like to see their credits and degrees accepted as equivalent to those issued by RA schools. But that isn't the case. I dont' have a dog in this hunt, but you do.

Neither. A look at my profile reveals my true birth year, 1959. I earned my USNY/Regents AA degree in April, 1979, when I was still 19. Being shown that program (Julie Yount, where are you?) started my quest, which continues to this day.

Your profile says Dec. 31st, 1969, Rich. That's why he thought you were ten yrs. in 1979.
