"Prosecutors say the break-in is part of a larger issue in which so-called “burglary tourists” enter the United States from countries that qualify for visa waivers, allowing a visit of up to 90 days without a traditional tourist visa. When the suspects arrive – most often from South America, prosecutors say – they join sophisticated burglary rings that prey on luxury homes."

Does this mean we should all run out and buy 500 sq.ft clapboard houses in a run-down area and they'll leave us alone? :)

No. But if you are a gazillionaire and buy estates on all four coasts while splitting your time between Paris and Hong Kong, it's up to you to keep track of your properties.

Incidentally, I don't see a single South American country on the current Visa Waiver Program list.

"Te lo digo, Fernando. Es tan fácil. Simplemente obtenga su visa de turista y suba al avión. Haz el trabajo, recoge tu dinero y aborda el avión de regreso a Maracaibo. ¡Es muy sencillo!"

"I'm tellin' ya, Fernando. It's so easy. Just get your tourist visa and get on the plane. Do the work, collect your money and take the plane home to Maracaibo. It's that simple!"

When I wrote this, I didn't realize there were no direct flights from most US cities to Venezuela. Fernando will have to change planes in Florida - Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or Orlando. When he reaches Caracas, he's still 697 km from home in Maracaibo. But he'll make it. I know Fernando! :)

Four ways to get home to Maracaibo. By car, I notice gas for the long drive home only costs $2-$3 Canadian! That's oil country for you.

Besides being a city in Venezuela, a Maracaibo is also a decent drink. A recipe - it's from here:
    https://cocktailvirgin.blogspot.com/2019/09/maracaibo.html

2 oz Aged Jamaican Rum (1 1/2 oz Appleton Signature + 1/2 oz Smith & Cross)
1/2 oz Crème de Banane (Giffard)
    1/4 oz Allspice Dram (Hamilton's)
    3 oz Tamarind Nectar
    1/2 oz Lemon Juice

Shake with ice, pour into a Highball glass, and garnish with a lemon wheel.

    That's all for now folks. G'night. :)

I'm a bit surprised if Chile isn't there, but otherwise not surprised at all.

My point was that the article is bogus.
